The main reason for Cancer
Hello, hope everyone is fine. I've been not well these few days... Anyway, I had a very good seminar yesterday, we had a visiting professor from Kazakstan, a well known chemist. Very interesting facts, he was talking about cancer and its prevention. Cancer can develop easily when one having a lot of stress and depression. So, in short to avoid from cancer, you really have to avoid from stress. Don't let the stress take away your life from you. The equiptment in his lab can detect cancer in 5 minutes using your blood sample. He has tested this machine to thousands of people and the outcome of the results were positive. If he found that you have cancer, you'll have it and the stage of your cancer. So, make your life simple, no fuss just be happy, I am sure you'll be fine....take care.

Just wanna to share a little bit spice of life.....I talked to a friend who lives in New York City (NYC). I was mentioning a friend of mine who is an American, has a restaurant in NYC, Zack a chef and restaurant owner in NYC...he owns The Fatty Crab Restaurant in NYC, this restaurant has got reviews from the New York Times. In fact when Martha Stewart was in Malaysia last year, Zack was with her in the trip. Actually Zack was a long time friend, he was in Malaysia in the late 1990's and during that time he work with Restaurant Seri Melayu to learn the art of Malaysian cuisine. And today in his restaurant.....according to my friend he is serving SAMBAL BELACAN (SB) as a condiment on the table....something like the Thai Chilli sauce that you could find in some restaurants. Anyway, the SAMBAL BELACAN was well liked by the Americans because it is so exotic and they add SB to accompany their dishes..i.e steak, seafood, and etc.....so what I am saying is that SB is being served on the table of this worldly restaurant......NYC being the capital of the world and the time is just right for us to continue savouring our Heritage food - SAMBAL BELACAN......in fact recently we in UPM produced a Doctorate specialized in SB. So there are so much for us to do to bring our food to the world.........Enjoy and don't forget SB with your rice......yummy.
Hi you all, I am in KK now and will fly to Tawau and Semporna and off to Mabul for a short summer vacation. Anyway, wanna to share a little bit of my food experience in KK. Actually this is my 3rd times in KK this year and this time I really enjoyed the seafood. Last night, I went out for dinner with several friends. I went to Anjong Selera, and I requested all the seafood to be grilled.....no cooking like 3 rasa or whatever. The food came to be fabulous and fantastic. All of us enjoyed the food this way, because sometimes if you ask them to cook, they may not cook it right to your taste. So just grilled, very simple and yet so good and yummy........you guys need to do that when you are in KK.

Malaysia Airlines System (MAS) inflight food is really getting horrible.....I was on board from KL to Kuching on Friday June 22, 2012. Guess what....they were serving Nasi Lemak..which is a National Heritage food, however the Nasi Lemak that they served was not nice at all. There was no cucumber and the sambal was not as nice as the usual sambal for Nasi Lemak. What I can say is the sambal has no taste at all..just like a plain sambal with chilli without other additional taste. The Chef in MAS has to reallly look into this matter...if not your customers are going away to other airlines. Probably MAS need to re-engineer their inflight menu to make it yummy

Best Murtabak in the World
Have you all tasted a really good murtabak that you would never say no. So far, the best murtabak that I've ever experience is in Singapore. I have been savouring this murtabak for many years. Recently I was in Singapore to have the same murtabak, however the restaurant was closed by the Singapore authority...because the restaurant was having some hygiene problems...but then I went to the restaurant next door Restaurant Victory or Victoria if I am not mistaken - near Arab Street, across the street from the Sultan Mosque, yet the murtabak is what I got in the past. The point I am trying to make here is that the murtabak was so crispy, with tons of layers and rich filling. There are several types of murtabak, chicken, beef, and lamb. And how they make it..first they will spread the dough on the table ...strecth the dough like making roti canai...then next step is add the filling ...cooked ground beef, onions, chillies, and eggs...sounds yummy and on top of that they put another piece of cooked plain murtabak in the filling and cover the murtabak and pan-fry till crispy. The result is very thick, moist and rich murtabak with a spicy bowl of curry. If you go to Singapore this is a must thing to do, that's what I call the best murtabak in the world. Bon Apetite.

The California Pizza Kitchen KLCC
Last Saturday, three of my friends and me went to the California Pizza Kitchen at KLCC. We waited for a while until someone came and took our order. We ordered Tortilla with artichoke and spinach cheese dip, chicken pizza and tomato basil pizza. The food was served in a timely manner. However, after serving the food, no one came back to us and ask if everything was all right. Infact, they only refilled the drinks only once. Instead they can always come back to us and pour more drinks since it was free-refill. Anyway, the service was not really good. The food was good, the pizza had a nice crust and crunchy.
If you dine in a restaurant in the US, after serving the food, the waiter will always come back to you and ask if everything is ok, or if we need to order any other items and such.
Here in Malaysia, the service is just plain cold, no additional warmth that I can feel in the service in most restaurants in the country. They waiter just want to serve the food and leave the table. The element of service is crucial for a successful restaurant operations. If the food is good, but no fine service is offered, overall the service is considered a failure from the guests point of view.

Manhattan Fish Shop, Seremban 2
I was at the Manhattan Fish Shop last Friday. Well, the food was just ok. Nothing interesting at all. We ordered a Salmon Chowder, but then I asked the waitress If the soup is fishy or not ( not fresh salmon is going to produce fishy odor). The soup came and it was very fishy, it was not a chowder, but a cream soup thicken with corn starch. It was really disgusting. We asked the waitress to change the soup to a mushroom soup. It came out to be the same. The mushroom soup also was not too rich. They were not using cream to enrich the soup, but merely using cornstarch, because the taste was not there. Anyway, we ordered a salad, overall is okay, but then the crouton that came with the salad was too tiny. For the main course we ordered a mix-grilled seafood with rice and French fries served with cream sauce. There were calamari, fish, mussel and shrimp. The price for this dish was between RM40 to RM 50, which was very costly, but the shrimp/prawn was too little for the price. I had difficulty to remove the shell of the shrimp because it was sticking to the flesh. Anyway, I was not happy at all with the food. Next time, think twice if you want to dine in this restaurant. Luckily, the service was good. Its really hard to find good food these days.

Malaysian local food
This morning I was thinking on the price of food in Malaysia. 20 - 30 years ago, the price of nasi lemak wrapped in banana leaves was only 20 to 30 cents. At that time the nasi lemak was accompanied with cucumber, boiled/fried eggs, anchovies, and kangkong and the taste was really nice, especially the sambal. But today, the nasi lemak price has gone up so much, however with less accompaniments - only with cucumber, eggs and sambal. The rice also is not as lemak as those in the past. The sellers should really improve the taste of the nasi lemak for this food to sustain in the future.

Malaysian Restaurant Service
How many of you would agree that most restaurants in the country do not provide good services? I had many problems with restaurant service. Most restaurants are out there to make money, but they don't care about the service. How are we going to attract/ create new customers if we cannot serve the customers well. Just think about it.
But some restaurants are really good with service, for example the Palmgarden Renaissance Putrajaya Hotel. One of the restaurants did very well to win their customers heart by solving the problem immediately. This is what service is all about. Providing excellence service that will make you want to return to the same restaurant.

Perfect Lunch in Portugal
This was the lunch that I had in Portugal. Its a white fish, served with tomato rice and a simple salad. The fish was fantastic, it was crispy and moist. One of the best lunch that I had while travelling in Portugal. The restaurant is located near Mayor Square. I didn't remember the name of the restarant. The price is just average, not too expensive. Overall, I could say that Portgal is a good destination, value for money. Not too expensive like any other European cities. The people were also very freindly and warm. You feel safe everywhere.Tuesday, July 8, 2008
Frankfurt Market
It is amazing how you could have all these fresh tropical fruits in Frankfurt. The fruits are nicely arranged and they are yummy too. You can find all kinds of fruit including yellow dragon fruit, the first time that I ever saw this fruit. The taste of the yellow dragon fruit is succulent and sweet. The quality is the best -A++, not like what we use to get back home. Just think about it.Thursday, June 26, 2008
